Painting & Decorating

The surfaces should be inspected for cracks, loose material, moisture damage, previous coating problems and areas that require filling or sanding. Adjacent floors, fixtures and joinery should also be protected before preparation and painting begin.

Differences in substrate absorption, incomplete preparation, insufficient coating build, poor cutting-in or inconsistent application can remain visible after the paint dries. The required preparation and number of coats depend on the existing wall and the colour change, not simply a fixed rule for every room.

Not before the moisture source is addressed. AC condensation, plumbing leaks, exterior ingress or persistent humidity can cause new paint to blister, stain or peel again. Correct the cause, allow the substrate to reach an appropriate condition and then repair the finish.

Inspect walls in normal room lighting for missed areas, visible patching, poor edges, overspray or paint on adjacent surfaces. Items included in the quotation should be completed before the work is treated as finished rather than left as an undefined future touch-up.
